Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

The Short Version

LocalTake is a guide to things to do in cities, run by Local Take LLC. You give us an email address and a few taste answers; we use them to pick events for you and to send you a weekly email. We use what you tell us and what you react to in order to make LocalTake better and to show you things you're more likely to like. We don't sell your email to list brokers. You can delete your profile whenever you want, and everything we hold about you goes with it.

The Full Version

Part 1 — Terms of Use

Last updated October 22, 2026. These terms cover localtake.com and the LocalTake emails. By using either, you're agreeing to these terms and to the privacy policy below.

Who we are

LocalTake is made by Local Take LLC, a company in Washington, DC. "We" and "us" in this document mean Local Take LLC. "You" means the person reading this.

Who can use it

You need to be at least 16 to create a profile. Anyone can read the site. If you're a parent and you think a child has given us an email address, write to us and we'll remove it.

Your profile

A profile is an email address plus your answers and reactions. There's no password; we send a sign-in link to your email. That means whoever can read your inbox can get into your profile, so keep that in mind if you share a device or an address. One person per profile, please.

You can delete your profile at any time from the site or by emailing us. See "Your choices" in Part 2 for what that does.

What you agree to

If you break these rules we can close your profile and block you.

Events and venues

We do our best to find events and activities that are interesting and relevant to you, and we pull them from hundreds of sources. The listings, descriptions, and recommendations on LocalTake are collected, written, and edited by a combination of artificial intelligence and real people. We don't run the events, we don't control their quality, and we don't check each one in person. Events change: times move, shows sell out, parks close for weather. Before you go, check the organizer's page, which we link from every event. Go at your own risk.

What's ours

The LocalTake name, logo, design, writing, recommendations, and software belong to Local Take LLC. Event listings belong to the people who put the events on. You can share any page or email with friends. You can't repackage LocalTake and present it as your own.

What you send us

If you send us an idea, a correction, a submitted event, or feedback, you're letting us use it without paying you or asking again. We won't claim you wrote something you didn't.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

LocalTake is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and running, but we can't promise it will always be either, and we aren't responsible for losses that come from using it, as far as the law allows. The same goes for the events, as the section above says. Some states don't let companies say this in full; if you live in one, it applies only as far as your state permits.

Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem with LocalTake, contact us first and we'll try to resolve it. If that doesn't work, the laws of the District of Columbia apply, and any case goes to a court in Washington, DC. Either of us can use small claims court instead, where it fits.

Changes

We'll update these terms as LocalTake grows. When we change something that matters, we'll add it here and update the date at the top. Using LocalTake after that means you accept the new version.

Part 2 — Privacy Policy

Last updated October 22, 2026. This is what we collect, what we do with it, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Things you give us.

Things we notice as you use LocalTake.

How we use it

Three things, and they're the point of LocalTake:

  1. To run LocalTake. Send you the weekly email, sign you in, remember your picks, answer when you write to us.
  2. To make LocalTake better. Your reactions tell us which recommendations land and which don't. We study them, in bulk and one at a time, to improve how we choose events for everyone. Some of that work uses AI models; your preferences and reactions may be sent to those services to build your recommendations, under contracts that bar them from using your data for anything else.
  3. To show you things you're more likely to like. Your picks, your reactions, and where you live shape what you see on the site and in the email. The more you react, the better it gets.

We'll also use your email to tell you about LocalTake itself: a new guide, a change to these terms, a new city. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Who sees it

The companies that keep LocalTake running. We use outside services to host the site, store data, send email, and build recommendations. They see only what they need to do their job and are bound by contract to keep it private.

Advertisers and sponsors. We never share your email address or your individual profile with advertisers or sponsors. A sponsor may learn how many people saw or clicked a sponsored pick, but that is a count, not a list of names.

The law. We will share data if a court order or the law requires it, or if doing so is necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights. To date, we have never been asked to.

A sale of the company. If Local Take LLC is ever sold or merged, your data would transfer with the company under these same rules, and we would notify you before that happened.

People you plan with. If you join a plan, the others on it see your first name, your match number on each event, and what you've said you're in for. They never see your email or your zip code.

What we don't do

Your choices

Write to localtakellc@gmail.com for any of these. We'll confirm it's you by replying to the email address on the profile, and we'll answer within 30 days. We'll never treat you differently for asking.

Where your data lives and how long

Our database is hosted in Canada and the site is served from the United States, so your data crosses that border. It's protected the same way wherever it sits: encrypted in transit and at rest, reachable only by the people who run LocalTake.

We keep your profile as long as you have one. If you don't open an email or visit the site for two years, we'll write once to ask if you still want it, and delete it if we don't hear back.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever have a breach that touches your data, we'll tell you.

Cookies

LocalTake uses a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember choices like your zip code. We don't use cookies for advertising. If you block cookies, the site still works, but you'll sign in more often.

Kids

LocalTake isn't for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you think we have, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

We'll post any change here, update the date at the top, and email you about anything that changes how we use your data before it takes effect.
